For referring professionals

A thoughtful referral pathway for function-first pediatric care.

TC TOTs welcomes collaboration with lactation consultants, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, myofunctional therapists, pediatricians, dentists and other professionals supporting infants and children.

Who may benefit from evaluation

Refer when oral function is affecting daily life.

Referral does not assume that a procedure is needed. It creates an opportunity for a comprehensive pediatric evaluation and clear family education.

Feeding concerns

Latch difficulty, prolonged feeds, maternal discomfort, bottle challenges, poor coordination or difficulty progressing through textures.

Speech and oral movement

Restricted movement, articulation concerns, compensatory patterns or functional limitations identified during therapy.

Breathing and sleep patterns

Mouth breathing, snoring, restless sleep, open-mouth posture or broader airway-focused concerns that warrant dental evaluation.

Oral development

Concerns involving palate development, oral posture, chewing, swallowing or growth patterns.

Possible tethered oral tissues

Visible or suspected tongue- or lip-tie accompanied by symptoms, mobility limits or functional concerns.

Complex or persistent cases

Families who need another perspective when symptoms continue despite appropriate supportive care.

Referral process

A simple path from concern to clear next steps.

03

Evaluation and coordination

Dr. Matos evaluates anatomy, mobility, symptoms and function. With family permission, communication can include the referring professional and other members of the care team.

Collaborative care

Your clinical perspective remains part of the care story.

Families often arrive with valuable observations and established therapeutic relationships. TC TOTs aims to complement that work through careful dental evaluation, clear communication and individualized recommendations.

  • Function is considered alongside anatomy and appearance.
  • Treatment is not assumed simply because a frenum is visible.
  • Supportive therapy, observation or referral may be recommended when appropriate.
  • Family education and follow-up are part of the clinical process.
